I’m not a medical professional, but if I could make one health suggestion for RSAC 2024– DO NOT play a drinking game where you take a shot every time you see AI printed on a booth, hear it on stage, or see it plastered on a cab driving around Moscone. Now, because we don’t want anyone getting sick, this blog will help us separate the essence from the hype with the top 5 AI-related sessions at RSA 2024. We looked for sessions that will provide true business value by breaking down AI security use cases and market trends, rather than presentations that focus on how AI is going to make our jobs irrelevant.

Use Generative AI to End Your Love/Hate Relationship with DLP

Heidy Shey, Principal Analyst at Forrester

We couldn’t agree more! We like Heidy’s make-sense approach to data security for GenAI  “where DLP is an outcome, and not a single data control.” At Aim Security, a constant customer grievance is that traditional DLP solutions struggle to adequately distinguish between legitimate and risky GenAI use as they lack a sophisticated understanding of the contextual nuances of data. We look forward to hearing from Heidy on how enterprises should apply different data controls (DLP and others) to their GenAI adoption.

The End of DevSecOps

DJ Schleen, Distinguished Security Architect, Paranoid

Who doesn’t like a provocative DevSecOps statement? DJ’s session will help us understand if the advent of new tools, techniques and specifically, GenAI is going to just streamline engineering processes or be a once-in-a-lifetime disruptor.

How to Safely Deploy AI Copilots

Brian Vecci, Field CTO, Varonis

Imagine asking your enterprise copilot “How much does my boss make?” Now imagine if the question was more malicious. Whether asked with malicious intent or out of pure (but unprofessional) curiosity, LLM prompts should be monitored to prevent security breaches. Security and privacy are the leading reasons why organizations hesitate to deploy AI productivity tools like Microsoft Copilot despite their immense benefits. Forward-thinking organizations, realizing that obstructing GenAI adoption will inevitably hurt business, have already turned to Aim to help manage exactly these configuration and authorization issues. This is a must-session for anyone responsible for these deployments within their organizations, and for CISOs who strive to be business enablers.

What Cloud Has Taught about Securing AI in the Future

John Yeoh, Global Vice President of Research, Cloud Security Alliance

The similarities between cloud adoption and its security consequences, and AI adoption and its security consequences are endless. Cybersecurity professionals and practitioners would do well to heed the warnings and adopt the precautions of previous technological revolutions, instead of being left out of the current one. We appreciate the CSA’s collaborative and ecosystem approach to solving security’s most pressing challenges, and look forward to hearing John present his latest research on innovation in cloud security for AI.

From Chatbot to Destroyer of Endpoints: Can ChatGPT Automate EDR Bypasses?

Erik Van Buggenhout, Director, NVISO & SANS Institute

Daan Raman, Head of Innovation, NVISO

Finally some action! We are looking forward to watching this live demo and seeing if (or just how) ChatGPT can automate EDR Bypasses. While we are all about the positive and not doomsday conversations surrounding popular GenAI tools like ChatGPT, sometimes a little scary is necessary.
